For Galerie Kreo in Paris, Grcic produced the limited-edition Karbon chaise longue in 2008; Treccani describes the project as examining carbon fibre's structural properties alongside crafted details.1 In 2009, he worked with Muji and Thonet on Pipe, a restyling of Marcel Breuer's B32 chair and S285 desk, and collaborated with Spain's Bd Ediciones on exploring aluminium extrusion for large, strong, lightweight surfaces.1 Treccani characterizes his projects as combining formal simplicity, references to historical products, functionalism, and research into materials and technological innovation.1

Dwell cites die-casting in Chair_One as an example of technological integration in his work.5 Grcic has said that earlier decades pursued technology and novelty without sufficient consideration, and that technology should now be used thoughtfully.5 Dwell describes his approach as methodological and attentive to social insights and playfulness, including a willingness to make challenging pieces.5

His upholstered Chaos chair, designed in 2001, has an upturned seat with a shallow profile that leaves only a narrow edge for sitting.6 For Magis, Grcic designed the Bell Chair using recyclable waste from the company's factory; IGNANT reports that its material can be recycled again after use.4 Grcic said the chair he and Magis developed in 2020 needed to be affordable, stackable, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.4

Exhibitions

According to designboom | architecture & design magazine, grcic curated an exhibition titled Comfort at the 2010 Saint-Étienne design biennale.3 According to designboom | architecture & design magazine, comfort displayed 47 everyday objects and services selected to explore differing ideas of comfort.3 In the exhibition text, Grcic described comfort as subjective and dependent on context, making it difficult to define a fixed system of values.3

According to Treccani, in 2012, Grcic curated the German pavilion exhibition at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale.1 Dwell describes Panorama at the Vitra Design Museum as Grcic's largest exhibition to that point, combining three scenographies about possible future work, domestic, and public environments with objects that influenced him.5
