Viewpoints and evidence

Niemeyer said in 1947 that designing for the UN required keeping in mind what the UN is.1 A Guardian account says that in 1958 Le Corbusier was at the height of his fame and famously unwilling to collaborate.6 According to Le Corbusier, he believed color could affect emotional responses and perceptions of space.4

According to Le Corbusier, le Corbusier wrote that his color keyboards put personal choice on a systematic basis.4 According to Le Corbusier, he described his 'Keyboards of Color' as aiming to stimulate personal selection by placing the task of choosing on a sound systematic basis.4 According to Barnebys, the Dom-ino design is described as a response to damage from the First World War, aimed at quick, inexpensive reconstruction.2

According to Larousse encyclopedia, his thought has been described as oriented toward an authoritarian system, though his architecture remains noted for generous spatial treatment.5 According to Marc Perelman, in 2015 Marc Perelman wrote in Le Monde that Le Corbusier was a fascist and that the French academy had whitewashed that history.3 According to Fondation Le Corbusier, the Fondation Le Corbusier expressed unhappiness with these allegations and sought explanations from signatories of related letters.3

According to Exhibition pavilion study, a study of his exhibition spaces from 1924 to 1962 finds a recurring reverse double-triangle roof or facade form.7 Towards an Architecture says architecture is unrelated to styles and is a play of volumes assembled in light.8 According to Le Corbusier, he asserted that architecture has nothing to do with various 'styles'.8

According to Le Corbusier, he defined architecture as 'the masterful, correct, and magnificent play of volumes brought together in light.'8 The same text says brute fact becomes amenable to ideas only through an imposed order.8
